New York City Activities: Check Out Annie & Company Needlepoint & Knitting
The Annie & Company Needlepoint & Knitting shop on Madison Ave is a needle-pointer or knitter’s heaven! There’s more yarn there than you could imagine. It’s even a place you can come to FOR knitting, as they have chairs and tables across the store for knitters to come and knit and visit with friends! And that’s just the first floor! Elodie writes about how much she loves this place!
One of my favorite New York City activities is to visit Annie & Company Needlepoint & Knitting. They are located on Madison Avenue and 93rd street on the upper east side of Manhattan. They are two different stores located at the same location. I love this shop because it is basically a needle-pointer or knitter’s heaven. The shop located on the first floor features knitting. When you enter the store you are stunned by the amount of yarn they carry. There are so many different types, textures, and colors of yarn to choose from. They carry all the supplies a knitter could ever want or need to complete a project. They have everything from needles, to buttons, to beads, to “how-to” books. They also have a large table and chairs all across the store for knitters to just come in to sit with friends and knit and chit chat.
The Needlepoint store, located on the second floor is such a beautiful shop to walk into. The walls are covered from top to bottom with canvases for sale of all different types. They carry all different types of designs for Christmas, Hanukkah, birthdays, wedding, new born parties, anniversary, floral, geometric, and New York City landmarks. Basically anything you can think of, Annie & Company will definitely have it. The best part is if you are looking for a particular design, if it is not in stock, they will special order it for you. Even better than that is if they cannot find what you are looking for, the owner, Annie, will paint your design or any idea you have within a week or two. They have all different types of threads to choose from. The staff will actually sit down with you for about 15 minutes and teach you how to needlepoint with the basic stitch. The needlepoint store also has a large table for needle pointers to come in to sit and stitch. I would absolutely recommend this store to tourists because it is a great place to visit just to look at the beautifully hand painted canvases on the walls, or the finished pieces that have been turned into pillows, chairs, framed pieces, or stuffed animals. It’s also a great place for tourists to buy gifts for a friend who knits or stiches. After all, everyone has at least one person in their family that does one of these activities. All in all, Annie & Company is a wonderful place to visit, make new friends or catch up with old ones while knitting or stitching.
