Cool Things to Do in New York

Some of the best features of New York City’s beautiful Central Park that you may not know about are the many lovely bridges, which are truly great works of art. Read what Karen says here about her favorite attractions at the park, each one being a masterpiece not to be missed:

Central Park is one of my most favorite sightseeing destinations when visiting New York City. It is enormous and it has something for everyone. My favorite time to visit Central Park is in the springtime, when all the beautiful trees and plants are in full flower. When I was in college in New York, I found myself with little money to spend on entertainment so I began going there to have free entertainment but also to have a way to exercise in beautiful surroundings. Even though there are many places to go and see within the park I have always found that the beautiful bridges are the biggest draw for me. The bridges are artistic engineering at its best. Every last one of them looks like it has sprung forth from the earth on its own, perfectly suited for the surrounding ground level, water way or path. Each one is a masterpiece; so very beautiful… The first chance I get every spring, I gather up my family and we head for Central Park with a picnic basket in hand to stroll this beautiful gem. Not only are the bridges beautiful in design, but the intricate moulding work is astonishing. The stairway on the Terrace Bridge has stone carvings of birds, bees, nests, and even a farmer with a jackolantern. Amazing really when you consider the work and thought put into these bridges. Balcony Bridge is another one that is truly gorgeous with its balconies or what some refer to as a bay. I know that there are many people who find these bridges as lovely as myself and my family does, because every time we are there we see people taking pictures in front of them. Central park holds many wonderful and hidden gems. I think everyone should take at least an entire day to explore the many different things you can find there. With so many choices of things to do, Central Park’s possibilities truly are endless.
